1. tryna:
其實就是把 try to 講快一點的意思。不論是英式英語或美式英語，人們在口語中常把 to 念成類似 na 的發音，因此 try to 聽起來就成了 tryna。wanna 與 gonna 也是源自於同樣的道理。如同 wanna 與 gonna，tryna 如今也已經是許多字典認可的口語用字。
2. indie:
源自於 independent 一字，通常用來指涉獨立製作的、不隸屬於大型主流唱片公司或製片公司的作品或藝人，從而衍伸出特立獨行的意思。由於 Zayn 脫離偶像團體時曾經遭受許多歌迷的指責壓力，因而此處應該也有暗指他自己這段過往經歷的意思。
3. in this:
英語中並沒有單獨這兩個字組合的慣用語，通常 this 後面還會再加一個名詞，但揣摩上下語意，我們可推測其意大概是指 in this world，也就是在這個世上好好過活的意思。
4. sins:
傳統基督教義認為，由於人是由亞當、夏娃偷食禁果而來，因此人一出生就帶著種種原罪，必須靠信仰基督而得到救贖。Zayn 顯然不吃這一套，因此希望看到太陽升起在對方的原罪之上，也就是希望對方走出原罪的陰影、坦然接受自己與生俱來的「人性」（亦即人性化的需求，或者，生為人該具有的種種權利）。
5. on the run:
可翻成「匆忙之間」或「逃亡中」，但由於犯錯的不是他們（MV 中除外），並不需要逃亡，因此這裡搭配 light it up 一起翻譯成忙裡偷閒、苦中作樂。
6. shut like a jacket:
